Abstract

Diwan Journal: Welcome, esteemed Mevlevi Bey, to the office of the Hikmet Association. We are very pleased that you accepted our invitation and came here. If possible, could you share information about your year and place of birth?

Hadith Scholar Molavi Muhammed Eyyüp Gufran Maâb: Thank you for inviting us; I will begin my remarks, God willing.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. I was born in the year 1325 in the solar Hijri calendar, which is the year of the rooster, in the Lal Khail neighborhood of the Dar-e-Suf Pa'in district in Samangan province. My real name is Muhammed Ovez, known as Muhammed Eyyüp, and I use the pen name Gufran Maâb. My father's name is Molla Kince. I need to provide a little clarification regarding my name.

My late teacher once explained to me the reason for naming me Muhammed Ovez: "Before your existence, I had a son named Abdulkadir who had reached the age of six or seven and had learned the basics of reading and writing. However, by God's decree, he passed away; his death was very sorrowful and distressing for me. After that, Almighty Allah granted you to me, and since I considered you a replacement for him, I named you 'Ovez' as a symbol of that replacement."
